What we stand by

How a job runs

From the first visit to the day we hand back the keys, you know what is happening and what comes next.

  1. Step 1

    Site visit

We come and look, measure, and listen to what you want at the end of it.

  2. Step 2

    Written quote

A price broken down by stage, with materials, labour, skips and what is not included.

  3. Step 3

    Start date

Booked, with the order of trades and who will be on site each week.

  4. Step 4

    First fix

The work that disappears behind the walls: structure, pipework, cabling, insulation.

  5. Step 5

    Second fix and finishing

Plaster, screed, tiling, doors, sockets, paint — the part you can see.

  6. Step 6

    Handover

We walk it with you, write the snag list, and put right everything on it.

What we do

01Extensions

From the first drawing to the last coat of paint, managed as one job.

02* Renovations

Whole houses and flats brought up to standard, room by room or all at once.

03Kitchens and bathrooms

Ripped out, rebuilt and finished, with the trades booked in the right order.

04Structural work

Walls opened up, steels sized and fitted, and the calculations done before anything comes out.

05Brickwork and blockwork

New walls, openings, repairs and repointing.

06Plastering and plasterboard

Walls and ceilings left flat, which is harder than it sounds.

07Floors and screed

Levelled, insulated and laid ready for whatever goes on top.

08Tiling

Bathrooms, kitchens and floors, set out so the cuts land where nobody sees them.

09Damp and waterproofing

Tanking, membranes and getting water away from the building rather than around it.

10Insulation and render

External wall insulation and render systems, done as a system rather than in parts.

11Roofs and gutters

Repairs and replacements, and an honest look before either.

12Outside

Patios, paths, walls and drainage that takes water away from the house.

13Small jobs

The ones other firms will not come out for, done in a morning.

The firmBuilding work without the stories

Most of what makes building work painful is not the work — it is not knowing what is happening, what it will cost, or when anybody is coming back. We fix that part first.

We take on what we can do properly with the people we have, which is why we sometimes say no. It is also why the jobs we take finish.

Questions people ask

01How soon can you start?

Tell us what it is and roughly when you want it. We will give you an honest date, including if that date is months away.

02How do you price work?

We come and look, then send an itemised quote. Anything unforeseen is discussed and agreed in writing before it is done.

03Do I pay a deposit?

For work with materials to buy, yes — and you get a schedule of payments in writing, tied to stages rather than dates.

04Can I live in the house while you work?

Often, and we will tell you honestly which weeks are bearable and which are not. Water and power off are planned, not sprung on you.

05Do you clear up?

Every day, and properly at the end. Skips and disposal are in the quote.

06What about permissions and inspections?

We will tell you what your job needs and work with whoever you are using, or recommend somebody.
