Open late, worth staying in

Behind the bar
Draught beer
Kept cold and poured properly, with something local and something worth trying.
Bottles and cans
The ones people ask for, and a few they have not met yet.
Cocktails
The classics, made properly, and two or three of our own.
Wine
A short list by the glass, chosen to be drinkable rather than impressive.
Spirits
A shelf worth reading, with somebody behind it who knows it.
Alcohol-free
Proper drinks for people not drinking, not just a cola with a slice in it.
Something to eat
Small plates and the things that go with a drink, until late at weekends.
Happy hour
Early doors, on the nights it runs — the board by the door says which.
Sport
The big matches, on properly, with the sound on for the ones that matter.
Live music and quiz nights
What is on this week is on our page and by the door.
Private hire
The back room can be taken for a birthday or a leaving do.

The date, roughly how many, and what time you are coming.
- Step 2
We hold a space
A corner or the back room, depending on the size of the group.
- Step 3
Food if you want it
Plates to share, ordered ahead so they arrive together.
- Step 4
Just turn up
Your table is ready, your name is on it, and you can run a tab.

A short list of drinks done well beats a long one done carelessly, so the board changes rather than grows. The lines are cleaned, the ice is good, and nobody is rushed out at the end of a round.
Early evening it is quiet enough to talk. Later it is not, and that is the point.
Good to know
Do I need to book?
Not usually. For a group of eight or more, or for a match, send a message first.
Are you showing the match?
The big ones, yes. What is on this week is posted on our page and on the board by the door.
Can we run a tab?
Yes, with a card behind the bar. For a group it saves everybody queueing.
Is there food?
Small plates until late at weekends, earlier in the week. Enough to stay for.
Can we hire the back room?
Yes, for birthdays and leaving dos. Message us with the date and the numbers.
